Overthinking. Oversharing. Over it.

🍿 The Mandalorian – A Feel-Good Star Wars Adventure

🚨 Spoiler Alert!
I cannot be expected to review a film while pretending nothing interesting happens. Read on at your own risk. 😌🍿

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5)

I went into this already being a fan of The Mandalorian series, so convincing my partner to come along was the real challenge. The good news? Even someone who’s never really been into Star Wars ended up enjoying it, which probably tells you everything you need to know.

From the opening scenes I was hooked. There are brilliant fight sequences, strange creatures, funny moments and just enough action to keep everything moving without becoming exhausting. It has that classic adventure film feel where you’re always looking forward to the next location or the next ridiculous creature that’s about to appear. πŸš€

What I love most about Din Djarin is that he isn’t your typical loud, over-conflicated hero. He’s calm, stubborn and quietly ethical. You always get the feeling he’s thinking, “I really didn’t want this to end in a fight… but here we are.” πŸ˜‚

He’s also believable because he isn’t invincible. He gets hurt, makes mistakes and finds himself in situations that genuinely look impossible, but he never gives up. That’s far more interesting than watching someone who can solve every problem without breaking a sweat.

And then there’s Grogu. πŸ’š

Yes, he’s adorable, but thankfully that’s not all he is. I actually liked seeing him use his Force abilities more, and there are some genuinely funny moments between him and the other little creatures. My favourite has to be the scene in the drainpipe with the rat. I wasn’t expecting the jump scare at all, and then it immediately became hilarious.

One of my favourite parts of the film was the planet where Mando goes to rescue Jabba’s son. It had this incredible neon, futuristic atmosphere that reminded me of Blade Runner. The visuals throughout the film are gorgeous without ever feeling like they’re showing off for the sake of it. 🌌

There were also a couple of emotional moments that genuinely landed, especially when Grogu is looking after Mando. The relationship between them is still the heart of the story, and it’s what gives all the action some real meaning.

Not everything relies on knowing every corner of Star Wars either. There were one or two characters where I thought, “I’m probably supposed to know who that is,” but it never stopped me enjoying what was happening. The story stands on its own.

For me, this is the best Star Wars film I’ve seen. It has everything I want from a Friday night at the cinema: action, humour, brilliant creatures, exciting chases, emotional moments and characters you actually care about. 🍿✨

I’d recommend it to pretty much anyone, whether you’re a lifelong Star Wars fan or you’ve never really bothered with the franchise before. The only people who probably won’t enjoy it are those who refuse to have a bit of fun. 😜

Final Verdict

⭐ 5/5

A classic feel-good adventure with great fight scenes, plenty of laughs, memorable monsters and enough heart to make you leave the cinema smiling. This is exactly the kind of blockbuster I want more of.
